We leveraged Charles’ writing chops to secure original essays with the Wall Street Journal, Harvard Business Review, and TIME, and TV interviews including PBS NewsHour, Squawk Box, and Morning Joe, with everyone contributing to a team effort that delivered results. We showed how specific activities such as dancing and drawing affect the brain, and emphasized that art is for everyone—no great talent required. Thanks to a full lineup of top-tier media and local events, Your Brain on Art was an instant New York Times bestseller.

Good leaders must inspire, but they aren’t just at the top of the org chart. To make this business book appeal to a broad audience, we developed pitches showing why middle managers and parents are also inspiring leaders. We took advantage of the January publication date to pitch “how to stay inspired in the new year” stories. We also leveraged Adam’s viral TED talk and reams of research citations to position him as the inspiration guru. This multi-pronged approach led to features in everything from The Economist to Oprah Daily, showing that inspiration is anyone’s gift to give.

Strategy:
What makes a good life isn’t always what you expect. Disabled mom Jessica Slice reinvigorated the parenting book genre by showing that disabled parents are often uniquely good at parenting since many have already rejected the myths of control, perfection, and hyper individualism. By showing parenting as it could be, we placed essays with the Wall Street Journal and Slate; interviews with NPR Here and Now, Vogue, and The Washington Post; and excerpts with The Guardian and The Atlantic. After publication, we did it again with Canadian media, showing how Unfit Parent benefits all parents.
